Privacy Policy

Spindle is a music player for iPhone, built by an independent developer.

The short version

Spindle collects nothing about you. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. It contains no networking code of its own — nothing you do in Spindle is sent to me or to anyone else.

What Spindle stores, and where

Spindle saves your preferences on your device, in the app's own private storage. This never leaves your iPhone and is deleted when you delete the app. It covers:

• Your selected theme and light/dark appearance preference
• The look you build, if you build one — two colors and a typeface
• Shuffle and repeat settings
• Which library sources you browse (Apple Music, local files, or both)
• Your focus hours, and your focus statistics and streaks
• A record of the album sides you finish — the album title and artist, and when
• Click sounds, haptics, and what the record label shows, if you set them
• Whether you have seen the one-time library summary

There is no cloud backup of this data by Spindle, and no way for me to see it.

Your music library

Spindle asks for Media & Apple Music access so it can show your songs, albums and playlists and play them. Your library is read on the device, only while you are using the app, and only to display and play your music. Spindle does not copy, upload, transmit or index your library anywhere.

If you play Apple Music catalog content, that playback happens through Apple's own Music frameworks and Apple's servers, under Apple's Privacy Policy. Spindle does not receive information about your Apple Music account and cannot see your subscription details beyond whether catalog playback is available.

You can revoke media access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Media & Apple Music, or in Settings › Spindle.

Purchases

Spindle Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the transaction; I never receive your payment details. Spindle only learns whether the unlock has been purchased, so it can enable the paid features. See Apple's Privacy Policy, linked above, for how Apple handles purchase data.

Children

Spindle is safe for all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at vfreitas.com/spindle/privacy with a new effective date.
